“Shadow banking” is a quasi-pejorative term for a mysterious but crucially important phenomenon. It is the phenomenon that stood at the heart of the financial crisis of 2007-9 and is continuing to grow in its aftermath. This workshop will develop a framework to understand and debate shadow banking reform. In important respects, this framework is an alternative to currently dominant view in financial regulation.
