Ousmane Kane, HDS Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Professor of Contemporary Islamic Religion and Society and Professor of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, discusses his recent publication, Beyond Timbuktu: An Intellectual History of Muslim West Africa.

Ousmane Oumar Kane, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Professor of Contemporary Islamic Religion and Society, delivered the inaugural Prince Alwaleed bin Talal lecture. The lecture, which took place on March 6, 2014, was titled "From Medieval Sankore to Modern Say: Islamic Institutions of Higher Learning in Africa in Historical and Comparative Perspective."
