Bio

Jeremy Rau received his PhD from Cornell University and holds a joint appointment in the Departments of Linguistics and the Classics. His research concentrates primarily on Greek and Latin linguistics, Greek Dialects, Mycenaean, the Homeric Kunstsprache, and Archaic Latin and the Italic dialects but also includes the Indo-European language family more generally, especially Indo-Iranian, Anatolian and the nominal morphology of Proto-Indo-European. His current projects include a treatment of various aspects of Greek and Indo-European word-formation, and a study of how the constraints of oral composition influenced the creation of the Homeric poetic language.
