Welcome!

Hello, my name is Reem Waziry, I am an Associate Research Scientist and Principal Investigator at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University. Most of my research to date focused on connectivity between aging biology, dementia, cerebrovascular disorders and brain health using systems biology, physiologic and molecular measures with emphasis on epigenetics and omics. I am particularly passionate about "Big Biological Data" and Advanced Causal Inference Methods. My research has been published in key journals including Nature AgingEpigenetics CommunicationsNeurology, Neurology Clinical PracticeJournal of Alzheimer's Disease, Stroke, Journal of stroke and cerebrovascular disease, Brain, BMJ, European Journal of EpidemiologyInternational Journal of Epidemiology and Journal of Clinical Epidemiology

Featured investigations:

In collaboration with the CALERIE™ Trial investigators, between 2020 - 2022, I have led a project to assess effect of long-term Caloric Restriction on DNA methylation measures of biological aging in healthy adults. Please read about it here.

I have recently led an international collaborative effort to assess risk of dementia in relation to cerebrovascular disease and stroke subtypes (manuscript forthcoming), I have also co-led an international effort to investigate incidence of dementia and Alzheimer's Disease in USA and Europe. Please read about it here.
