A ball valve is a type of mechanical valve. It is characterized by its hard metal body, a spherical ball, and a shaft that connects the ball to the control mechanism. It may be manually operated, electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic. A ball valve is also distinguished by a bonnet, which is an extension of the valve housing. Floating ball

Floating ball valves are made up of two or three pieces of steel that hold all the components of the valve. They are the least expensive and compact among the three types. Trunnion ball

A trunnion ball valve is a common type of industrial valve. Its fixed upper and lower stems, movable sealing seat and shaft support design make it very stable and suitable for many applications. The valve is ideal for on-off operation of fibers, suspensions with tiny solid particles and other viscous media. Its patented design makes it ideal for both process and piping applications.


There are two basic types of trunnion ball valves. The first type features a single sphere-shaped ball-shaped disk that is connected to the Trunnion and the stem. The valve itself can be divided into three pieces, with the casing and ball connected via threaded connections. A trunnion ball valve's three-piece design makes it simple to access its internal parts. Additionally, it does not require disengagement from the pipeline for repairs or maintenance.


The second type of trunnion ball valve is the split-body type. This type uses a split body to hold the ball in place and provides support for the interior. The materials used for the body of the trunnion ball valve vary based on the intended application. Carbon steel, stainless steel, and low-temperature carbon steel are common choices. Emergency seat

The emergency seat ball valve is designed to shut off a process flow by preventing leakage through the seat and gland. The emergency seat ball valve is made with an O-ring and one or two balls. These valves are trunnion mounted and are available in various sizes. A minimum size of this type is two inches NB. The downstream seat should feature a double piston effect. A sealant injection port is provided between the stem and primary and secondary seals.
