I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Presidency College, Kolkata, and Master’s degree in Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. I was attracted to Biophysics during a summer internship, and eventually went on to pursue a Ph.D in Biophysics from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore with Prof. Raghavan Varadarajan. My doctoral work involved design and characterization of protein immunogens for HIV-1 infection. Subsequently, I moved to Harvard University to pursue post-doctoral research with Prof. Eugene Shakhnovich. Here, my work broadly involves understanding the genotype-phenotype relationship in microbial systems. Specifically, I explore the relationship between mutations and organismal fitness using bacterial Dihydrofolate Reductase as a model system.
