Simon Buhler pursued his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Law at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. After graduation in 2010, he studied Economics (undergraduate) at the University of St. Gallen and passed the bar exam (St. Gallen, Switzerland) in 2013.

Between 2013 and 2016, Simon Buhler wrote his dissertation on OTC Trading of Non-Listed Equity Securities at the University of Zurich in Switzerland. He graduated with honors (summa cum laude) and received the Issekutz Prize for Outstanding Achievements in the Area of Economic Law and the Professor Walther Hug Prize for an outstanding dissertation.

After two years of practice in a Swiss domestic law firm, Simon Buhler studied in the LL.M. program of Harvard Law School. He graduated in 2018 and received the Dean's Scholar prize in Constitutional Law (14th Amendment).
