Simon’s research focuses on the uses of management information in processes of organizational accountability. His work has been lauded in over 20 media outlets across the globe, ranging from national radio, national newspapers, professional publications, trade publications, online publications and other forms of major media which have described him as “Australia’s top IT talent” and a “global innovator” whose “achievements and impact are extraordinary”. His accolades extend to government entities such as the US Citizenship & Immigration Service which awarded him the 'alien of extraordinary ability' designation for the purpose of granting US Permanent Residency.

Simon has over 15 years of progressive industry engagements that span: Bridgewater Associates, a Connecticut based global macro investment management firm often cited as the world's biggest hedge fund in terms of assets; Two Sigma Investments, a New York City based systematic investment manager, founded with the goal of applying cutting-edge technology to the data-rich world of finance; the Australian Government's National Broadband Network Initiative, a program tasked with designing, building, and operating a high-speed broadband internet access network across Australia; the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, an Australian multinational investment banking and financial services corporation that is Australia's largest bank and also the largest bank in the Southern Hemisphere; Westpac Banking Corporation, an Australian multinational investment banking and financial services corporation that is Australia's second largest bank; and IBM, an American multinational technology company that manufactures and markets computer hardware, middleware and software, and offers hosting and consulting services in areas ranging from mainframe computers to nanotechnology.

Simon has held, and continues to hold, influential honorary appointments which include academic adjudication appointments (e.g. Section Editor, Australiasian Journal of Information Systems), professional adjudication appointments (e.g. Senior Membership Elevation Panelist, IEEE), expert knowledge network appointments (e.g. Council Member, Gerson Lehrman Group), and research group appointments (e.g. Research Scholar, Ronin Institute).

Simon was elected a Sir Robert Gordon Menzies Scholar and went on to complete a Master of Science in Computational Science and Engineering at Harvard University. During his time at Harvard, he cross-registered into Harvard Business School, recieved individual coaching at the Harvard Innovation Lab, consulted at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, and was selected to participate in Harvard's Asia Leadership Program. Simon also holds a Bachelor of Information Technology with Distinction from the University of Technology, Sydney and a Master of Commerce with Merit in Finance and Accounting from the University of Sydney Business School. 

Having started his education and career in Australia, Simon has traveled to over 10 countries and is now a US Permanent Resident. He is looking forward to living in and exploring North America. In his spare time, Simon enjoys fine arts and collecting computer gadgets.
