Welcome to Siyi's homepage! I will be joining the Unversity of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering (MechSE) as an Assistant Professor in August, 2024. I am looking for multiple Ph.D. students! Please directly contact me at siyixu@illinois.edu and check out the Opportunities page for more information!

My research focuses on developing soft robotic platforms that are equipped with compliant, lightweight, and compact sensing and energy transducing systems to advance wearable and implantable technologies for healthcare. My work leverages multi-functional materials, different actuation mechanisms, and sensing technologies to create elastomer-based solutions for human-centered applications. My primary interests lies in wearable assistive devices, haptic interfaces, and implantable systems for monitoring and biomedical treatments.
