Davd Brooks op-ed on Democrats

There is a very nice op Ed in The New York Times today by David Brooks called "Democrats who rose to the moment." He gives credit not just to Obama but even to Bernie Sanders for their defenses of democracy at the convention. He describes Biden as "goofy, heartfelt, unpolished, undisciplined, and incapable of being manipulative. The way a lot of regular people actually are." Read the whole column! Thoughtful, serious republicans are breaking with trump and now going over to Biden in large numbers

China trade

Trump has said he is cancelling a round of trade talks with China scheduled for next week. He said that this was because of China's behavior with the coronavirus, which he called "not even thinkable." He said "China could have stopped the coronavirus from coming into their country" but didn't. I have zero idea of what he is even talking about. Hello, the coronavirus did not "come into" China, but started there. To the extent his statement is even slightly coherent (it is not), would China want the coronavirus to spread inside China, where it killed thousands of people, so that it could...

QAnon spreads

The New York Times has a front page story today called, "More in GOP speak the language of QAnon," the conspiracy theory behind pizzagate. It begins with the fact that the Texas Republican party has unveiled a new slogan, "We are the storm." This is a reference to QAnon's version of the Apocalypse called the storm, where trump will save America from the Democratic pedophiles.. Can this possibly be happening in our country?
