Aksel B. Sterri

https://scholar.harvard.edu/sterriAksel Braanen Sterri’s research interests are at the intersection of economics, politics, and philosophy. He is particularly interested in how markets can be designed to achieve fairer and better outcomes, from the allocation of organs, COVID-19 vaccines, animal welfare, drugs, and the development of new technologies, including AI. 

He is a Primary Investigator of a three-year postdoctoral research grant from the Norwegian Research Council (2021-2024).

During 2022-2023, he is a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard University Department of Government and teaching Embedded EthiCS.

Aksel holds a PhD in philosophy, and an MA and BA in political science, from the University of Oslo. He was a Fulbright visiting fellow at Harvard University from 2019-2020. During 2021-2022, he was a Research Fellow at Oxford University (Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics and Linacre College) and a tutor in practical ethics at Balliol College.

Aksel has written books on social democracy and the ethics of euthanasia and has published several peer-reviewed articles in leading journals, including "The Ethics of Emergencies" in Philosophical Studies.
