Verlan Lewis researches, teaches, and writes about the interaction of ideas and institutions in American politics. His first book was Ideas of Power: The Politics of American Party Ideology Development (Cambridge University Press, 2019). As a visiting scholar in the Center for American Political Studies, he is writing his second book on The Myth of Left and Right (forthcoming at Oxford University Press).
