Short bio
I am a Research Fellow at the Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard School of Public Health. I am always fascinated by the exciting opportunities in both areas of computation and biology. My long-term career goal is to develop powerful technologies to understand the function of every coding and non-coding element in the genome, especially in the context of human physiology and disease.
As a computational biologist with a background in computer science, I have the expertise and motivation to solve computational and biological problems. I have over 10 years of experience in algorithm development and over 8 years of experience in high-throughput sequencing analysis and computational biology modeling. My past research has focused on developing analysis algorithms on functional genomics, especially for RNA-seq and CRISPR-Cas9 screens.
I received my Ph.D. in computer science at University of California, Riverside. Before that, I received my bachelor and master degrees of computer science at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China.
I am currently vice president of Harvard Medical School Chinese Scholars and Scientists Association (HMS-CSSA), and a founding member of Longwood Translational Medicine China Initiative (LTMCI). I was also a proud member of Tsinghua University Military Band (THUMB) and Life Academy.
