As a teaching assistant for this class on American literature, I led two discussion sections, graded papers, and helped students with research. In addition, I organized trips to both the Harvard Map Collection and the Houghton Rare Books Library. During these visits, I split the class into groups to investigate the different materials available to them in the library. Representing the Race: The Autobiographical Tradition in African American Literature

I have taught this course twice to advanced undergraduates at Harvard in a small setting to help them prepare the skills they need to write a senior thesis. For this reason, many of the assignments are tailored to those specific skills.

I taught this course at MCI-Framingham through the Boston Prison Education Program, which offers the opportunity to pursue a B.A. for inmates in a couple of correctional facilities in Massachusetts. I led the course, designed the syllabus, graded the papers, and did my best to help my students to enjoy their writing.
