Dr. Yvette Efevbera, ScD, MSc is a global health specialist and alumnus of the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. Her academic and professional work focuses on population and reproductive health; child, adolescent, and youth protection; and program leadership. Dr. Efevbera’s research uses qualitative and quantitative research methods to understand cultural contexts, evaluate programs, and strengthen evidence-based program design. Her work draws on multiple disciplines to consider vulnerable populations across the lifespan, particularly in adverse settings globally. She has recently published scholarly articles in Social Science & Medicine, Children & Society, Peace & Conflict: Journal of Peace Psychology, as well a blog for the Maternal Health Task Force

Dr. Efevbera has previously worked with organizations including Wellspring Advisors (International Child Rights, Protection, and Education Programs), the UBS Optimus Foundation, the United Nations Foundation, the Harvard AIDS Initiative-Botswana Partnership, and mothers2mothers in Malawi, where she supervised M&E efforts across 170 community health workers to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV across more than 60 sites. Dr. Efevbera also has over 8 years experience leading cultural competence initiatives in higher education.

Dr. Efevbera holds a Doctor of Science in Population and Reproductive Health from the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, where her dissertation research focused on the health and developmental consequences of girl child marriage across African settings. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts, High Honor in International Relations and African Studies from Michigan State University and a Master of Science in Global Public Health from Harvard University.
