I am Ping Lu, a postdoc at Tsinghua University at the Department of Earth System Science. I’m working with Prof. Zhu Liu to explore the socioeconomic impacts of extreme weather events, especially under a changing climate.
Before starting as a postdoc, I received my PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Princeton University. My primary focus to date has been on extreme rainfall and flood modeling from tropical cyclones, particularly from a risk-management perspective. Past research has also included spatially characterizing flood magnitudes in a river network. My current goal is to extend my previous research of hazards to their impacts, motivated by the need to better understand their risk posed to the society.
