Jeffrey A. Friedman is a Research Fellow in the Belfer Center's International Security Program. He received his PhD in Public Policy from Harvard University in 2013, and will be a postdoctoral fellow at Dartmouth's Dickey Center for International Understanding during the 2013-14 academic year. His research focuses on the theoretical and empirical foundations of military doctrine and decision making, and has been published by International SecurityInternational Studies QuarterlySecurity Studies, Intelligence and National Security, and the U.S. Army War College. His dissertation examines why military decision makers often struggle to realize their strategic mistakes, including analysis of U.S. policy in Iraq, Vietnam, and the American Indian Wars.
