Jesse Hawley and James Stanley

Hawley and Stanley in House WarmingJesse Hawley and I are longtime collaborators. We did our first show together in NYC in 1997, and have been working together in theater, music and visual art ever since. From roughly 2000 to 2017, we worked principally with underground experimental collaborative the National Theater of the United States of America ( NTUSA) which we co-founded with several co-conspirators. In 2015, we relocated to Massachusetts where we began a new set of performance-based experiments in collaboration with New England artists and theaters. Our living room show House Warming premiered in 2017 at the Wilbury Theater in Providence, RI and subsequently toured to the B House Performance Garage/Shack (Beacon, NY) and to Torn Page (NYC). In 2019, we created the Olneyville Expo with playwright Darcie Dennigan and the Wilbury Theater.

Our current piece, CVK: Extended Play, inserts a fake band (Clever and Vainglorious Kings) into the the real history of 80's New Wave and consists of a full album of music, a faux historical essay and the bands reunion tour (Summer '23!).
