About me

Hello!

I am a Ph.D student at Intelligent Interactive System Group. My advisor is Prof. Krzysztof Gajos.

I study human-computer interaction, or in other words, how human interact with algorithmic systems in the world. More specificly, I want to understand how these systems can create or amplify stereotypes, bias, or inequalities. My interests in the area started with my first project on facial recognition algorithms

Projects that I am working on:

  • Adaptive AI explanation based on Bayesian Optimization - can explanations be made in a way that is adaptive to the users?
  • I am running a study to understand whether filter designs on common shopping websites make users associate gender with different items, and therefore instill gender stereotypes.
  • Upcoming study on sexual racism - the prioritization of individuals as romantic or sexual partners. How do the designs of dating websites facilitate inequality? What are some actionable interventions that can be used to reduce bias?

History:

Previously, I went to Bucknell University for my undergrad, where I conducted research in Computer Vision, and created an app for local food pantries.
