Bio

I am a clinical researcher and orthopaedic trauma surgeon focused on trauma systems and health equity research. After receiving my Certificate of Completion of Training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, a UK license to practice as a consultant surgeon (attending), I joined the Program in Global Surgery and Social Change (PGSSC) as a Visiting Scholar. At the start of 2021, I was made faculty as one of two Chief Strategy and Health Equity Officers for the PGSSC. In July 2021, I was appointed as an Instructor in the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine (DGHSM) at HMS. In this position, I lead a research lab which consists of three main bodies of work: (1) Trauma Systems Strengthening, (2) Civilian-Military Engagement and Disaster Response, and (3) Social Justice, Health Equity, and Anti-Racism. A large component of my research is centered on mentorship and supervision; HMS medical students, PGSSC and DGHSM fellows and visiting graduate students, DGHSM research collaborators, and HSPH graduate students receive mentoring in research methods and opportunities for dissemination through presentation and publication. In addition, I provide mentorship for marginalized, underprivileged, and minority undergraduates (Boston and Virginia), access to opportunities and activities that aim to enhance current curriculum vitae content and ensure a competitive and strong application for postgraduate studies in Medicine.
